At least in our motorhome this is the case.

That s the standard behavior i have seen in most cases.
The struts that push out the awning usually won t get more tension they will loose it since they are filled with gas.
Its to prevent it from accidentally extending across the roof when you are traveling.
Rv adhesive tape release a sticky awning ratchet lever by releasing the awning lever with one hand while pulling down gently on the awning support arm with your other hand.
Now hook the black pull strap on the awning with your awning rod and pull the strap straight out.
One may have come loose.
Some electric systems have a spring on the rear side of the awning if it is really long but this will make it harder to go out not in.
Use the manual override if the motor is completely dead.
